Ransom Ashley reflects on his upbringing in the Bible Belt in Wombat #34.

Reflecting on his body of work up to this point, Ransom Ashley (with Wombat Paris) releases a retrospective on his work on identity and his coming of age experience in the American South. A member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Ransom’s images have been applauded for their cinematic and colorful contemplation of being queer in the conservative environment of the Bible Belt. Having exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, as well as having amassed a broad following on social media, this is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts of fine art photography to collect a rare piece of Ransom’s portfolio.

The Wombat No. 34 is a limited edition box by young American photographer Ransom Ashley. It contains two numbered photographic prints and one 10 images portfolio of Ransom Ashley. Prints are made by professional laboratory Processus on fine art Hahnemühle paper. Each Wombat box is numbered, stamp-dated, and handcrafted in our studio. 300 copies only. An additional 50 signed copies will also be available for purchase.

This publication was just presented at Les Rencontres d’Arles and will be debuting at several other upcoming art fairs in London, Paris, and greater Europe.

about the designer

Born in Shreveport, LA , Ransom Ashley is a photographer, actor, and cinematographer. He attended Parsons The New School for Design in New York City where he was concentrating on photography and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He has shown work internationally (in New York, London, Brighton and Budapest) and been included in shows at the New Britain Museum of American Art, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and Masur Museum of Art, among others. He has also been featured in select publications such as Teen Vogue, The New York Times, Deadline, Wonderland Magazine, Metal Magazine, and Dazed and Confused Magazine. Ashley is currently working on a body of work exploring Louisiana subcultures and recently appeared alongside Oscar Winning Actress Holly Hunter in the southern drama Strange Weather.
