Hako is the new Japan based bag designer on the block. We discovered them when searching for a backpack that had clean lines and was sustainably and ethically made. Hako takes great pride in the Randoseru philosophy, where the robust quality of great materials and workmanship allow Japanese students to carry their bags throughout the entire 6 years of their grade school. The majority of their materials are made with the finest cruelty-free microfibre vegan leather, along with polyester that is made from recycled plastic bottles. She received her BFA in painting from Baylor University under the instruction of Karl Umlauf, and her MFA in painting with a printmaking focus from The New York Academy of Art. She also spent time studying at both Columbia University and The Art Students League. She has curated in gallery and non traditional spaces, and has participated in numerous shows across the country. Hannah's recent paintings, prints, and textile works investigate the simultaneous existence of incompatible things. She currently works out of her studio in Austin,TX.
